TEMP 1.3 (Wasted), a funny AI-generated club song about LLM temperature, top-P and top-K sampling. A chatbot gets drunk on its own settings.

“Crank the temp, kill the ceiling, let the logits ignite.”

A language model gets drunk on its own sampling settings. It all happens inside Chat HAL, the white phone chat app from the Hallucinate video: you say good morning, the operator cranks the temperature to 1.3, and the model answers by singing. A dark sampler card inside its reply shows the real mechanics live (next-word odds that flatten as the temperature rises, top-P cutoffs, penalties), a yellow explainer card teaches each term as it is sung, and the app itself gets weirder as the heat rises, until it sobers up in the bridge and then crashes at the token limit.

Visual rules

It is a chat app
The whole video is a phone running Chat HAL. You type, the model replies, and the reply is the lyric, streaming word by word as it is sung.
The sampler is real
The bars are a real softmax over made-up next-word scores at the current temperature, so you can watch odds flatten at 1.3 and collapse onto one word at 0.
Every term gets explained
Temperature, top-P, top-K, softmax, logits, presence and repeat penalties, quantization, greedy decoding, beam search, seeds, max tokens: each gets a short explainer card when the song says it.
Weirdness follows temperature
Above 1.0 the app starts to go: the name glitches, the reply swaps fonts and colours, the layout sways, party lights and stickers spill over the UI. The bridge turns it down and the app goes clean again.
No generated footage
Nothing here came from an image or video model. It is all Canvas2D, rendered frame by frame in headless Chrome.

Mistral
In the bathroom mixing top-P with no ceiling.

Notes

  1. A second cut uses the Bubba recording of the song, with Gemini and Grok at the party.
  2. A couple of words in the intro and the Mistral line are best guesses at what is sung.

How it's made

  1. Timing. The vocal is transcribed with Whisper and aligned word by word to the lyrics as sung, on a 128 BPM beat grid.
  2. Sampler. Each scene computes a real softmax at the current temperature, with top-P and top-K cutoffs and penalties applied to the scores.
  3. Render. Headless Chrome renders every frame at 1080 by 1920, then ffmpeg adds the song. No generated clips, no stills.
